Day 059: Wood / Young talent

Today we are happy to have a younger visitor who is interested in arts and all different kinds of creative activities! She is sharing her tips and ideas how to make a little horse stable! We are super happy to welcome Sylvi!

Ice cream bars can be used for many kinds of creative activities! Today our visitor Sylvi is sharing her tips and ideas for other creative minds to get inspired!

Today we have a 7 years old talented visitor in Bobola. Sylvi likes all different kinds of creative activities and on Saturdays she is participating lessons in arts school. Today we are playing around with wooden based materials such as cardboard and ice cream bars. Sylvi is sharing some great ideas how to build a horse stable in a compact format for one horse. She has been building horse stables in various sizes but today we shall get inspired and started with a smaller size. You may find an inspiring picture of a bigger stable in the end of the story!

We at Bobola asked three questions from Sylvi:

I am inspired by all different kinds of creative activities and friends.”

In the future I hope that I am going to have a pet.”

Most important things for me are friends and family.”

Horse stable from wooden ice cream bars and cardboard

For this activity you would need scissors, glue, wooden ice cream bars, a small cardboard box and some decoration elements in the end like straws or hay. This activity is also a great excuse for the whole family to start the ice cream season! Remember to wash and collect all the ice cream bars you have got! If that sounds like a bit too big effort, you can find those wooden sticks from hobby shops as well! If you do not happen to have some toy horses this fits well for other animals like dinosaurs as well! Have fun wishes Sylvi and Bobola!

1. Let’s get started. First you need to cut the base for the stable out of a shoe box. Other smaller boxes work for this as well. Remember to cut and fold the stable door as well at this stage!

2. Now we need to glue the ice cream bars on the sides. Despite her young age Sylvi is very familiar with how to use the hot glue gun. If you are a bit uncertain about it, you can very well use some other glue as well. It just might take a bit longer to dry!

3. Now we need to make this stable cozy and prepare it for the horses. Maybe you can use some hay or straws to decorate it. Sylvi is also giving an advice that she has earlier used some miniature items like buckets (can be made from recycled bottle caps) to decorate her stables. You might also use the “Magic dough” recipe we shared earlier to make some small items for your stable.

4. If you would like to build some other extra items for your stable, you can easily use the sticks to do some bounce type obstacles for your horses as well.

This is a bigger stable Sylvi has also built! Once you have made the smaller one make you can challenge yourself and build a big one too! This is welcoming many little horses at the same time! ©Sylvi
